It is similar to other metacoins (altcoins) in the fact that it is mined and traded on exchanges and pools. However the fundamental ideas behind this project is exclusive as compared to other altcoins.
To put it simple, if bitcoin is HTML, ethereum is the JAVASCRIPT.
