The Labour Party was illegally sold the data of more than a million new parents, claims the ICO

The Labour Party was illegally sold the personal information of more than a million pregnant women and new parents during the 2017 general election, claims the UK data watchdog.  

The Information Commissioner’s’ Office (ICO) intents to fine Lifecycle Marketing, a company behind a website that offers expecting parents health advice and gifts, for selling the personal data without telling the individuals first. 

A penalty of £140,000 is to be issued to the marketing business for “unfairly” sharing the data from Emma’s Diary, an online service promoted by the Royal College of General Practitioners for its parenting guidance.
